The idea first came while on holiday in Anglesey in 2009...

Despite the beautiful environment, as the mother of a young child, it struck me that when the sun wasn't shining the choice of where to go was very limited.  There were plenty of tea-rooms, but none of them remotely catered for the needs of children, and the "playbarn" only served fried food in a surroundings that were less than ideal for adults.

And so the vision was born - to create a chic, healthy-living, child-friendly tea-rooms that would serve simple, fresh, home-cooked food, and provide learning activities to keep the little ones creatively entertained whilst  their parents/carers relaxed in comfort.

Roll forward to 2010, when I discovered a stunning range of hand-made spotty blue pottery at a food fayre in.  I bought a little teapot, which sat patiently on my kitchen windowsill for several weeks until the Eureka moment when I realised that this was the perfect motif for the healthy-living tearooms and gift shop I was so passionate about opening.

The vision was now in place, but I needed a location.  After serious searching, I found the ideal spot - a large, characterful shop on Market Street, in Hoylake, Wirral, close to the train station and with plenty of free parking.

The final challenge was to find the funds to transform the empty premises into what you see today.  Thanks to amazing support from family and friends, steely determination, plus a grant from the Mersey Rural Leader programme, the rest is history, and The Spotty Blue Teapot became a reality on 1^st April 2011.

While not without its teething problems, things have gone from strength to strength since opening - we seem to have struck a chord and the majority of feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. 

We have further plans up our sleeve but all in good time! As a new, small business, we are still listening and learning every day about how to make the Spotty Blue Teapot even better for everyone to enjoy, so please do let us know what you think!
