Website Accessibility
Reading our Information
The information presented on this website is available as text and images.
There are a number of ways to make this site easier to read in your web browser. The easiest way is to follow these steps as recommended by the Web Accessibility Initiative
This should also work for other websites that you visit. If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, you can use the scroll wheel to increase or decrease the zoom
The BBC have a detailed guide to making text larger in your web browser that covers web browsers for the Microsoft Windows, Apple OSX, and Linux operating systems.
If you prefer to have our information read to you, then there's also information from the BBC about how to make your computer talk to you.
Printing
This website has a printer-friendly mode that is applied automatically when you choose to print any page. This means that all non-essential images, colours, navigation, and formatting is removed. Only the essential text and images are shown on the printer-friendly version.
This is also economically sound and environmentally friendly as less ink and paper are used.
However, if you require a printout with all the formatting in place, then it is better to do a screen grab or capture. This can be carried out by:
- in Micrsoft Windows: pressing print screen will capture the entire screen, while pressing the alt key in combination with print screen will capture the currently selected window. The captured image can then be pasted into an editing program such as a word processor, email, or graphics software. Pressing print screen, with both the alt key and shift key pressed, turns on a high contrast mode for people with visual impairments.
- in Apple OS-based systems: pressing command-shift-3 saves the image to a file on disk. To capture only a selected area of the screen, use command-shift-4 to display a cross-hair cursor which can be dragged over the required area (while the cross-hair is showing, a press of the space-bar brings up the further option to select a window to copy). Any of these key sequences save a file to the user's Desktop, additionally pressing the Ctrl key will modify the behaviour to copy the image to the system clipboard instead.
Web Compatibility
The site displays correctly with current web browsers, and using standard XHTML code means that any future web browsers will also display this website correctly. The site will display but with some issues in older web browsers, so it is recommended that older web browsers are upgraded to the latest version with the relevant security patches wherever possible.
